About Us

Discovery Church started in 2002 as part of the national Church Planting Initiative of the Assemblies of God (a mainstream Christian denomination in the UK , sometimes known as the Pentecostal Church ). The Church Planting Initiative aims to establish new and vibrant church congregations in response to the general decline of church attendance in the UK . Discovery Church aims to attract people of all ages to the Christian faith. We recognise that many people hold a positive and sympathetic view of God, however statistics show that church attendance is generally in decline. Discovery Church desires to bridge the gap between the realm of the secular and the spiritual, by providing church services that are relevant and contemporary to today's society. Discovery Church is part of Churches Together in Ilkley (a group of local churches of various denominations represented in Ilkley). We work closely with all the churches in Ilkley and have a particularly strong relationship with All Saints Church with whom we share premises with.
